FOS Board of Directors Regional Representatives
Election Dates: 4/10/08 to 5/1/2008
The Florida Orthopaedic Society has five pending vacancies for the Regional Representative positions on the FOS Board of Directors. Florida has 5 regions geographically distributed throughout the state. Elections for the Regional Positions on the Board are held within each region. FOS members may only vote in the election for the Region where they practice.
A call for nominations was distributed on February 18th. The deadline to submit nominations was March 15th.
The following are the candidates for the 2008 Regional Representatives Election:
(Please note: if there was only one nomination for the seat, that nominee was elected without contest. Therefore there is not election in that region.)
Region 1 - Panhandle –
Counties included in region: Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Bay, Jackson, Calhoun, Gulf, Franklin, Liberty, Gadsden, Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Hamilton, Suwannee, Lafayette, and Dixie.
David Chandler, M.D. (Pensacola) - Elected without opposition.
Region 2 – North Florida –
Counties included in region: Levy, Gilchrist, Columbia, Baker, Union, Bradford, Alachua, Marion, Citrus, Hernando, Sumter, Lake, Marion, Putnam, Volusia, Flagler, St Johns, Clay, Duval, and Nassau.
Michael Suk, MD, JD, MPH (Jacksonville) - Elected without opposition.
Region 3 – East Florida –
Counties included in region: Seminole, Orange, Brevard, Osceola, Indian River, Okeechobee, St Lucie, Martin, and Palm Beach.
Stan Kupiszewski, M.D. (Orlando) - Elected without opposition.
Region 4 - West Florida –
Counties included in region: Pasco, Polk, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Hardee, Highlands, Desoto, Sarasota, Charlotte, Glades, Lee and Hendry.

in the Region 5 Election:
Regional Representatives serve on the FOS Board of Directors for three year terms. Regional Representatives will be expected to develop 2-way communications with FOS members in their respective regions to ensure we keep the local membership informed on FOS activities and provide an opportunity for local members to increase their activity with the association and its leadership. FOS staff will assist regional representatives in developing appropriate communication vehicles with the local members.
Election Rules
FOS Regional Representatives to the FOS Board of Directors
- Online election - April 11, 2008 thru May 1, 2008.
- Regional elections. All FOS Members in each region are encouraged to vote for the elections in their region, if necessary.
- A call for nominations was distributed on February 18th.
- Deadline for candidates to appear on ballot – March 15th.
- Only FOS members may vote.
- Members can only vote for one candidate for each position.
- Election results will be announced at the Business Meeting of the FOS at the 2008 Annual Conference, May 18th, at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo.
Voting Instructions
The following instructions will assist you in completing your ballot.
- Ballot will include a list of pre-registered candidates and a statement by each.
- Write-in candidates are allowed.
- You will be asked for the following information to verify your membership. You must provide this information to vote. Differences in your entry and the FOS database will not automatically disqualify your vote. Staff will verify:

- A security measure is being implemented that prevents the same computer from submitting more than one completed ballot. Your computer will not open the ballot more than once. Members in group practices please note this security measure. You and your colleagues will need to vote from separate computers.
